A boy and a girl were saved while they were tethered in an isolated open area of Nagaha Veediya, a remote village adjacent to Yala National Park today.

The two children were rescued following a tip off received by chief incumbent of Kataragama Sri Abhinavaramaya Venerable Kapugama Saranatissa Thera.

The two children were hit by scorching sun at the time they were saved.

Later, it was revealed that the father of the children died and their mother is a drunkard.

Neighbors stated that the woman ushers another disabled girl child in begging at Kataragama Bridge No: 2 and is used to harass her children after boozing in the night.
