The search operation at the collapsed garbage mound in Meethotamulla continued for the 8th day today.

32 died and 8 persons are still missing following the disaster while 11 persons have got injuries.

Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Center Pradeep Kodippili said 240 displaced persons are still sheltered in makeshift camps after the calamity.

Meanwhile, the Japanese technical experts inspected the affected site of Meethotamulla this morning.

Later they disclosed that the density of methane in the site has increased 16% to that of the standard average methane density of the air.
