Minister of Irrigation and Water Management Vijith Vijayamuni Soyza accepted that the Irrigations Department was at fault in blocking few lakes in Ampara.

This was during a meeting held at the Ampara Irrigations Directors office yesterday.

Irrigation officials had released water from the Senanayaka Tank recently disregarding the opposition by farmers.

Farmers protested stating that several lakes had been blocked by filling up soil.
