President Maithripala Sirisena has invited leading Malaysian entrepreneurs to explore possibilities of expanding investment and trade and look at the potential in new trade opportunities here in Sri Lanka.

The President made the statement during a discussion with Datuk Ariffin, the CEO of Malaysia's petrochemical giant, Petronas.

He was accompanied by a delegation when he called on president Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

The CEO of Petronas, the only Malaysian company to be listed in the Fortune 500, said his company has business interests and joint projects in more than 30 countries, and he would explore the possibility of long-term business with Sri Lanka.

President Sirisena said that the current political stability and peaceful environment is conducive for foreign investments and the government would welcome established companies to invest in Sri Lanka.
