Leader of the Joint Opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardana said in parliament today that special laws should be introduced to settle the issue of waste in the country.

He was speaking when parliament met today to endorse several gazette notifications with regard to waste management and the debate over the Meethotamulla incident.

Our staff correspondent said that Opposition Leader R. Sampandan opened the debate and, President Maithripala Sirisena was also present in parliament during the debate today.
