The first stock of relief items collected through the Gold FM Cares programme,  initiated by Asia Broadcasting Corporation to provide relief to our very own people who are affected by the inclement weather, is currently being distributed to people in areas unreachable over land.

Accordingly, the relief goods have been distributed in more than 26 trips by air.

The stock of relief goods were handed over to the Air Commodore in charge of Rathmalana Air Force Camp, Ravindra Liyanage by the Chief Executive Officer of Asia Broadcasting Corporation, Dammika Tennakoon this morning.

Air Commodore in charge of Rathmalana Air Force Camp, Ravindra Liyanage expressed these views on the Gold FM Cares initiative.

Additionally, a convoy of vehicles departed Thotalanga junction at 8 AM today to collect contributions for the Gold FM Cares initiative, and is now reaching Seeduwa town through Peliyagoda, Wattala, Hendala, Kandaana and Ja Ela.

The convoy is expected to reach Chilaw via Katunayake, Negombo, Kochchikade, Wennappuwa, Katuneriya, Maarawila, Mahawewa and Kaakapalliya.

Gold FM, part of the Asia Broadcasting Corporation along with HIRU FM and HIRU TV which is constantly by your side at all times be it good or bad, launched the “Gold FM Cares” relief project to assist thousands affected by the recent disaster situation.

Accordingly, “Gold FM Cares” project is currently underway to provide relief to those affected.

Those willing to contribute can send in items such as dry rations, drinking water, new clothes, medicine and school equipment to our collection centers located in many areas across the island including the special collection point located at No 156/2, Nawala Road, Nugegoda.

Centres are set up to receive relief items at Sri Vachisvara Sunday School of the Meditation Center in Moratuwa – Rawathaawaththa, Rajamaha Viharaya Kotte and Kolonnawa Rajamaha Viharaya.

Those residing in Gampaha could hand over relief items to Gampaha Medagama Siri Sunandaaraamaya, Aththanagalla Puraana Raja Maha Viharaya or Divulapitiya Priyadarshanaaramaya.

3 centres are established in Kurunegala namely, Padeniya Raja Maha Viharaya, Sri Jinarathana Sadaham Sevana, Kotawehera, Nikaveratiya and Bauddhaloka Vidyayathana Pirivena – Kurunegala.

Meanwhile, another centre has been established at the Mahiyanganaya Rajamaha Viharaya.

Buddhist Centre in Nuwara Eliya, Chandraa Nanda Buddhist School in Asgiriya are also accepting relief items under the Gold FM Cares project.

Regional Director of Health Service Office – Mirijjawila – Hambantota and Seenigama Devala also has centres set up to accept relief items.
