With the spread of dengue, all main hospitals in the country have recorded a large number of patients.

It is reported that sufficient beds, doctors and nurses are not available in some instances.

Over 200 dengue related deaths have been reported during this year while 63 thousand 987 patients were also recorded.

Recent floods and natural disasters also contributed towards the spread of dengue.

Director of the Colombo National Hospital Dr Anil Jasinghe said that nearly 50 to 60 patients arrive seeking treatment daily.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Kandy General Hospital Dr Nishshanka Wijewardana said that 105 dengue patients were receiving in house treatment.

216 dengue patients were reported from the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital as well.

However, Minister of Health Rajitha Senarathna stated that assistance of the Australian government will be obtained in combating the dengue virus.
