The first condition is to suspend future student intakes and awarding of degrees until the conditions set in the gazette notification are fulfilled.
The second condition would be to gazette the minimum standards of medical education.
The third condition would be to ensure the independency of the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
The fourth condition is to formulate a mechanism accepted by the Sri Lanka Medical Council to prepare the curricula of SAITM and to register current medical graduates from SAITM.
The fifth condition is to seek the assistance of the attorney general to inform the government’s stance on SAITM to the Supreme Court.
The communiqué further notes that measures will be taken to change the administrative structure of SAITM and to operate it as a public-private partnership.
