The engine of Udarata Manike train plying from Colombo Fort to Badulla got detached from carriages near the Singimale tunnel in Hatton this afternoon.

The Railway Control Room stated that there was no harm to passengers due to the incident.  

Engine drivers have taken measures to re-attach the engine.

However, our correspondents stated that the train experienced a technical fault upon starting its journey again.
