President Maithripala Sirisena who is currently engaged in a three day visit in Bangladesh, is scheduled to meet their business community today.

14 memorandums of understanding pertaining to a number of different sectors were previously signed between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Bangladeshi media stated that it was agreed to sign a free trade agreement between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh this year during a discussion held between Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Maithripala Sirisena.

Bangladeshi media quoting their foreign secretary, Shahidul Haque noted that this will be the first ever free trade agreement to be signed by Bangladesh with a foreign country.

The secretary to foreign affairs of Bangladesh further noted that the annual trade revenue between the two nations approximates to 80 million dollars.
