Australia has come forward to help Sri Lanka in combatting dengue menace, which has already killed over 275 persons in the country this year.

The Australian support will be officially announced during Foreign Minister Julie Bishop’s visit to Sri Lanka later this week.

She announced that will meet President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Minister Ravi Karunanayake and other ministers during her two-day stay in Sri Lanka to discuss security cooperation and explore new economic opportunities in science, resources, and energy.

She said, “President Sirisena and I will announce Australian assistance to combat dengue fever in Sri Lanka and discuss progress on the implementation of Sri Lanka's reconciliation process, which is critical to its long-term security and prosperity”.
