Met Department has announced that the wind speed in deep and shallow sea areas from Puttalam to Mullaitivu across Kankasanthurai and from Hambantota to Kalmunai across Pothuvil would increase upto 70kmph within the next 12 hours.

Issuing a communique, Met Department stated the above at 1.00pm today.

Moreover, they request from the fishermen and navy men engaged in naval activities to be cautious on the winds.

Meanwhile, the Met Department says slight rains may occur inside the country from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.

Fairly strong winds about 50 kmph can be expected in the western slope of the central hills, Ampara, Monaragala and Hambantota districts.
