Several students have been injured owing to the attack and according to students several are currently in police custody.
However police have refuted these allegations.
The Sathyagraha was launched yesterday by the students who arrived at the lipton roundabout from the university of Colombo.
Students engaged in the Sathyagraha by building makeshift shelters which was later removed by the police following water cannon attacks.
However, several students expressed these views regarding the water cannon fired by the police
Further Medical Faculty Students' Action Committee Convener Ryan Jayalath noted that the an unidentified group threw stones at the makeshift shelters built by the university students at the Lipton roundabout.
Meanwhile, Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara at a media briefing held today noted that legal action would be taken in future against individuals who stood against the arrest of Medical Faculty Students' Action Committee Convener Ryan Jayalath recently.
