Distribution of fuel has been disrupted throughout the island due to the strike which was launched by Petroleum Trade Unions Collective last midnight.

The collective stated fuel for aircraft will also fall short by tomorrow if the strike continues further.

The strike was launched on taking over of Trincomalee Oil Tanks to Petroleum Corporation, taking over of Hambantota Oil Terminal and prompt action to overhaul Sapugaskanda Refinery.

Meanwhile, joint convener of the petroleum trade union collective, Bandula Saman Kumara says the strike will be continued until their demands are met.

However, IOC Company said that it is distributing fuel as usual.

Company director Shyam Bora said that more stocks are to be brought from Trincomalee terminal to normalize the distribution within Colombo.

Meanwhile, Joint secretary of Petroleum Trade Unions Collective D.J. Rajakaruna said they had a discussion with the ministry secretary Upali Marasinghe this afternoon.

He said the secretary promised them to confirm an appointment with the president.
