A former Kalutara North police OIC was convicted of the charges of taking an under-aged girl away from her parent’s guardianship and abusing her.

The former oic was sentenced to a 19-year rigorous imprisonment  

The relevant case was taken up for hearing before Kalutara High Court Judge Amal Tillekarthna.

On this occasion the High Court Judge also ordered a Rs. 1 million compensation be paid to the abused child.

The Attorney General had filed action, saying that the victim, who was under the age of 16, had been removed from her parents in June, 2008.
