The Draft Bill for the Criminal Procedure Code Amendment and another Ordinance under Judiciary Organization Act were withdrawn by leader of the house, Minister Lakshman Kiriella today.

These amendments had been presented to parliament by Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapakse.

Deputy Secretary General of Parliament told our news team that the amendments were withdrawn following an agreement made in the Supreme Court.

At the same time Deputy Minister Ajith P Perera drew the attention of parliament with regard to the behavior of Joint Opposition MPs after the house was adjourned on the day the Hambantota Harbor agreement was scheduled to be debated.

MP Dinesh Gunawardana, leader of the House minister Lakshman Kiriella and speaker Karu Jayasuriya intervened in the matter.

In addition, when Minister S.B. Dissanayake answered to certain questions with regard to Samurdhi allowance, Deputy Minister Nimal Lanza also intervened.
