Opposition leader R. Sambanthan has urged the United States to ensure that Sri Lanka implements the Geneva Resolution co-sponsored by Sri Lanka which was passed on the 1st of October 2015.

He stated this when he met with a group of American congressmen noting that the government’s commitment and responsibility is essential in this aspect.

Opposition leader, R. Sambanthan and Tamil National Alliance spokesman MP M.A Sumanthiran met with a visiting delegation of US Congressmen accompanied by US Ambassador to Sri Lanka last Thursday. 

Issuing a communiqué the Opposition leader and TNA leader R. Sambanthan noted that it is the government’s responsibility to uphold the commitments they had made to the international community. 

Briefing on the progress of the compilation of the new Constitution Opposition leader R. Sampanthan noted that the focus was more on the UNP and SLFP’s political future over the interest of the country causing delay in its finalization.
