Policeman remanded for accepting ‘bag of rice’ as a bribe

Policeman+remanded+for+accepting+%E2%80%98bag+of+rice%E2%80%99+as+a+bribe

A police sergeant has been arrested for obtaining a bag of rice as a bribe.

The officers attached to the Bribery Commission, arrested him yesterday in the Hettipola town.

The office of the police spokesperson said that the arrested police officer had allegedly accepted the bribe to avoid legal action being taken against an illegal sand dealer in the area.

The policeman was produced before the Naula magistrate and was remanded until 28th of August.
