Addressing the media in Colombo, SLFP ministers said the proposed national economic council will be able to address the issues of that nature.
State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said once this new council is set up, the existing Committee on Economic Management is not needed.
It is headed by prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Recently, the president submitted a cabinet paper seeking to establish a national economic council to streamline the decision making process related to economic policies.
Minister of Special Assignments, Dr. Sarath Amunugama and State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena expressed views on this at today’s media conference.
