Intelligence+officer+arrested+at+BIA+with+gold+worth+Rs.+9.1mn

An officer attached to the military intelligence was arrested in the Bandaranaike International Airport last night with 2kg of gold concealed in his knee guard.

 

The Customs Media Unit said the estimated value of the detected gold was Rs. 9.1mn. The arrest was made at the arrival area.

 

The investigations revealed that gold jewellery in question has been brought in by a passenger arrived into the country from Singapore.

 

The passenger had arrived in the country last night and he was missing from the area at the time of the detection.
