Government is planning to table the new local government draft bill with amendments in parliament on 24th of August.

The leader of the House, minister Lakshman Kiriella disclosed this issuing a statement today.

The minister said amendments will be brought in considering the views expressed by all the stakeholders including women's organizations.

Minister Kiriella said the minister of Local Governments & Provincial Councils will table the draft bill.

He added that the government and opposition were able to reach a common consensus on this draft bill.
