Ceylon Teachers’ Union charges that one paper of the second part of Advanced Level chemistry examination that was held yesterday, was missing from the bundle of papers at the examination center 1407 of Padavi Parakramapura in Anuradhapura. 

The union’s general secretary, Joseph Stalin stated that an investigation should be launched into the incident.

He said a leaflet distributed by a tuition master in Gampaha on the same day contained the exact questions that were in the chemistry paper.

Meanwhile, a senior police officer told our news team that two police teams are conducting investigations on the tuition master who distributed the said leaflets near Rathnaveli Balika Vidyalaya in Gampaha.

Furthermore, the Commissioner General of Examinations, W.M.N.J. Pushpakumara disclosed that the Department of Examinations too has commenced an investigation into the matter and that a complaint in this regard was lodged with Police Headquarters.

Meanwhile, it is reported that students who sat for the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination at the Paranagama Central College in Wattegama, Kandy have been distributed the exam papers at 9.35am.

However, the exam was scheduled to commence at 9.30am and the papers had been collected on schedule at 10.15am disregarding the delay.

Parents of the candidates who sat for the examination at this centre told our news team that the students were gravely inconvenienced as a result of this delay.

However, when we inquired this from the Commissioner General Examinations, he stated that the students at the said examination centre did not face any injustice.

The grade 5 scholarship examination was held today (20) in 3,014 centers island-wide.
