50% fare rise for goods transported by train

Department of Railways is planning to increase fares by 50% for parcels transported on trains. 

The fare revision will only affect the goods which are transported using trains for commercial purposes.

The cabinet has ratified the proposal submitted Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva.
