Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe says he will accept the President's decision to remove him from the cabinet.

However, he says he will stay with the United National Party.

Based on a recommendation by the UNP's Working Committee, President Maithripala Sirisena this afternoon (23) informed Minister Wijeyadasa that he would be removed from his ministerial portfolios.

This afternoon, Wijeyadasa Rajapkshe visited his ministry to meet the staff.

Later, speaking to the media, he said he was removed to hide the true story behind the bond scam. He added he would not change the party but will work independently.
