Ceylon Electricity Board employees are staging an island-wide strike based on several demands.

However, CEB Engineers' Union says that its membership will not support the ongoing strike.

The Secretary of Lanka Viduli Sevaka Sangamaya, Ranjan Jayalal told our news team that the strike will continue for two days and breakdowns could occur during these days.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the Ceylon Electricity Board announced that leave of all of its workforce has been cancelled until next Wednesday (20).

Meanwhile, the token strike, launched by the Government Medical Officers' Association, continued in six districts today.

Due to this, hospital services in Vavuniya, Matale, Ampara, Badulla, Moneragala and Matara districts have been affected.

The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors' Union has also launched an island-wide strike today.

They have launched strike against transfer of 5 PHIs in Jaffna, without valid reasons.
