India won the 5-match series with Australia by winning the 3rd match played yesterday.
With its back against the wall, Australia started off on a brilliant note at Indore’s Holkar Stadium, with Aaron Finch making a comeback century to get his side to 293 for 6.
But Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane were in no mood to make things happy for the visiting side, and gave India a solid platform that Hardik Pandya used to help the home side cruise to 294 for 5 in 47.5 overs for a five-wicket win.
The result meant India took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series and the No. 1 spot in the International Cricket Council ODI team rankings.
Australia's winless streak in the format stretched to eight games now.
With that win, India has 120 points in 48 ODI matches and reagined the 1st place in the ODI ranking.
Australia has slipped to 3rd place while South Africa is in 2nd place.
