Fmr.+SDIG+Jayasinghe+granted+bail

Former senior DIG Lalith Jayasinghe was released on bail today (25) after he was produced before the Pelmadulla Magistrate. He was ordered to place 2 sureties of Rs.1 million.

The accused former SDIG was directed to hand over his passport to the court as well as to report to the Special Investigation Unit at the Police Headquarters on the first Monday of each month.

Jayasinghe was arrested by the SIU this morning when he came to the Unit to give a statement.

He was asked to come to the SIU to record a statement, relating to the murder of a person in Kahawatte in January 2015, during the Presidential Election.

He is accused of acting in favor of the main suspect in that shooting incident, former Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekera.
