The Railway trade unions have suspended their strike action temporarily a short while ago.

They have taken the decision after a discussion with Presidential Secretary this evening (12).

The trade union representatives stated that the Secretary to the President told that a special committee would be appointed with regard to the matter.

They also said that they would take maximum efforts to restore the already crippled services by midnight today.

Meanwhile,  talks between trade unions and Transport Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva over the issue failed this morning.
