MP C. B. Ratnayake says that the majority MPs of the Joint Opposition have stated that they should contest the upcoming local government as a separate group.

A lengthy discussion was held regarding this at the Joint Opposition MP’s meeting at the parliamentary complex last afternoon with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the chair.

In contrast to this, some Joint Opposition MPs who participated in the discussion had said that the upcoming local government election should be contested jointly with the SLFP.

MP Ratnayake went on to say that Minister Susil Premajayantha was present at the yesterday’s meeting.
