The Shangri La Hotel complex built at Galle Face was declared opened by President Maithripala Sirisena today (16).

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and many other Ministers and MPs attended the event.

The hotel is the 101st hotel in the chain of Shangri-La Hotels worldwide.

Shangri La Colombo consists of 541 rooms including 10 two bedroom apartments, 31 one bedroom apartments, 34 suites and 1 presidential suite.

So far Shangri La has hired 700 workers from Sri Lanka and will look to hire more.

Meanwhile, distribution of scholarships for the children affected by the collapse of Meetotamulla garbage dump was also held today under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
