In what could be termed as the most insane batting record in first-class 50-over matches across the globe, a 20-year-old South African batsman, on Saturday, hit 490 off 151 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 325.

The batsman, who goes by the name Shane Dadswell, also hit unbelievable 57 sixes and 27 fours in his blistering innings.

Thanks to his unprecedented innings, NWU Pukke, the club for which he was playing, scored a massive 677/3 in the allotted 50 overs.

Batting second, the opponents Potch Drop 1st managed 290/9 in reply – a score considered as more than respectable even in international one-dayers.

Already bogged down by the score, only one Drop batsman played fifty-plus innings but took 78 balls to score 53 before getting out.

Apart from Dadswell, another Pukke batsman Ruan Haasbroke also hit 104 off just 54 balls with six sixes and 12 fours.

All the Potch bowlers had to go through all this beating with four out of six getting slammed for more than 100 runs in 10 overs while other two going for more than 90.

During the monstrous bating performance, Pukke batsmen score 570 runs with the help of boundaries – 63 sixes and 48 fours of them, out of the team total of 677.

They also had brilliant partnerships of 194, 204, and 220 runs for the first three wickets.

Coming back to Dadswell, the youngster also had a good day with the ball as he conceded only 32 off his seven overs while chipping away with two wickets.

South African cricket scores 457 runs in an One day match.
