Sources say Sri Lanka Cricket selectors are mulling to name a new captain for the Sri Lanka ODI team for the upcoming series against India.

Former skipper Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne and Niroshan Dickwella are among the names that are being proposed.

However, odds are in favour of Mathews, who had led the team in 98 ODI's winning 47 of them.

During the last 11 months, Sri Lanka had played 26 ODI's losing 21 of them.

The team has lost 12 matches in succession so far.

The selectors are planning to name the new captain targeting the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

The ODI captaincy will be discussed with Sri Lanka's Head Coach hopeful Chandika Hathurusinghe, the source said.
