The Attorney General filed this case against Hirunika Premachandra and 8 of her private bodyguards for abducting a resident of Gotatuwa in Dematagoda and assaulting him.
Hirunika Premachandra and the bodyguards were arrested in connection with this incident and released on bail later.
On 21st of December 2015, a 34-year-old person who was employed at a textile shop in the Baseline Road in Dematagoda was abducted and assaulted by a group of individuals who had arrived in a Defender which was allegedly owned by the MP Hirunika Premachandra.
Police earlier said that the Colombo Crimes Division recorded a statement from an 11-year-old girl who had witnessed the abduction.
The girl was taken to that location by a person who was among the abductors.
The CCD reported details of the girl's statement to the Colombo Chief Magistrate and it was revealed that the abducted person was taken to Hirunika Premachandra.
The girl had stated that she went to meet Hirunika Premachandra with her father and then they went to the Dematagoda textile shop in a black jeep along with several others who were there.
Thereafter, the abducted person had been taken to Hirunika Premachandra.
