No change in electric car sales despite tax reduction

Sri Lanka Vehicle Importers' Association says despite a tax reduction was introduced for electric car segment through the 2018 Budget, it has failed to make any positive impact on the market.

The Association's Chairman Ranjith Peiris said although sales were expected to rise with the introduction of tax concessions, it has not happened as yet.

The government proposed to reduce duties on electric cars by Rs. 1 million through the 2018 Budget in an attempt to promote environmental friendly cars and buses.
