The Sri Lanka Freedom Party Ministers in the government has proposed the President to remove Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to ensure SLFP - UNP coalition government to be continued.

It is reported that SLFP Ministers have pointed out PM's economic strategies and Bond issue were the reasons for losing the February 10th Local Government election.

The discussion was held yesterday (Feb. 11).

Meanwhile, a Minister who was at the discussion told us that they proposed to appoint another leader from the UNP as the PM to form a government.

Sources of the United National Front meanwhile said that it is preparing to form a government.

It is reported that that decision has already been communicated to President Maithripala Sirisena.

This was decided when Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met his party Ministers and MPs at Temple Trees after the election results were declared yesterday.

A group of about 50 members has proposed this to the Premier during the meeting to form their own government.

The UNF has 105 seats in Parliament and, it needs 8 more seats to claim the simple majority in the House.

UNP sources said that several deputy ministers, state ministers and Cabinet Ministers of the SLFP have pledged to join in a new government to be formed by the UNF.

It was reported that Prime Minister Wickremesinghe has discussed this matter with the President at his Official Residence yesterday.
