The Chief Prelates of the Malwatta and Asgiri Chapters have expressed their views on the current political situation in the country.

Both Chapters noted that the prevailing political instability within the country must be solved promptly.

In a letter addressed to the President and Prime Minister the Chief Prelate of the Malwatta Chapter said that the economy of the country could be affected and the government could crumble if the situation that had arisen following the local government poll continues.

Meanwhile the Chief Registrar of the Asgiri Chapter Ven. Medagama Dhammananda Thera made a special statement on the current political situation in the country at the Asgiri Viharaya today (Feb. 17).

The Thera requested that all political parties conduct their affairs giving priority to country's best interests.
