Woman dies 10 others injured in Padaviya accident

Police say a van which was returning from a pilgrimage to ‘Sri Pada’ had veered off the road and collided with a lamp post killing a woman and injuring 10 others.

The occupants of the van were residents of Welioya.

The injured were admitted to Padaviya Hospital and police said 6 persons who were in critical condition were transferred to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

A Buddhist monk was among the injured.
