Principal+jailed+for+10+years+for+raping+minor

Jaffna High Court Judge, M. Ilanchelian has sentenced a principal from Kayts who was accused of raping a 9-year-old schoolgirl for a 10-year jail term.

The accused was also fined Rs. 10,000 and he was ordered to pay Rs. 1 million as compensation to the victimized child.
 
The principal was charged with sexually abusing the minor on 4th of November, 2009 at around 7.30 am at his office.
 
Later police arrested him and following the preliminary hearing took place at the Kayts District Court, the suspect was released on bail.
 
Following Attorney General's advice, the case was transferred to Jaffna High Court.
 
It was heard there for around one year and based on physical and scientific evidence, the court delivered the judgement.
