President’s Secretary Austin Fernando says that the President will decide on lifting the "State of Emergency" once he returns to the island.
President is now in Japan.
The President’s Secretary said that only the President can issue a decree to lift the regulations.
The "State of Emergency" was imposed on the 6th of this month following the violence in Kandy.
Meanwhile, Dr. Prathiba Mahanama Hewa said that the gazette notification which imposed the "State of Emergency" did not include an end date and therefore it can be kept in place for a month.
Meanwhile, the restoration of the damaged property in Kandy commenced with the intervention of the Sri Lanka Army yesterday (Mar. 16).
It is reported that the Buddhist monks had also assisted in reconstruction work which commenced at the Masjid-Dun-Noor mosque in Digana.
