Southern Provincial Councillor M. K. Kasun who is on remand over an assault incident attended the Council session today (Mar. 20).
He was escorted to the Council session under prison security.
M.K. Kasun while addressing the session said that justice should be meted out to both his wife and himself.
Councilor Kasun further said that his wife intervened to ensure his safety.
Thereafter, other councillors also expressed views on personal security.
The JVP Councillor Nalin Hewage said the lives of PC members are also at risk with the issuance of firearms to Councillors.
Thereafter, everybody attempted to express their own views and it led to a tense situation at the council.
Councilor Kasun and his wife who were arrested for assaulting a private bus employee in Koswatte, Thalangama were remanded until 27th of March by Kaduwela magistrate.
