A special investigation has been initiated into the Kataragama shooting in which a policeman attached to the State Intelligence Service was shot at this morning (Mar. 21).

The police officer was targeted while he was walking towards the Kataragama bus stand to take a bus to Tangalle.

He is attached to the Tangalle Police station.

The police constable received injuries to his hand in the shooting.

Police Media spokesperson, SP Ruwan Gunasekera said that the shooting was a result of a personal dispute.

It was revealed that the assailants on a three-wheel had opened fire at the policeman using a locally-made gun.
