President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered to halt all the constructions, landfilling and other activities, which would lead to damage the environment in Muthurajawela, immediately.
 
The President's Media Division said that the President issued the order after making an inspection visit to the area early this morning (Mar. 22).
 
He also directed the authorities to suspend all the approvals that had been given to fill land plots in Muthurajawela.
 
The public officials who had supported the ongoing destruction would be taken disciplinary action.
 
Later the President has had a discussion with the politicians from the area, public officials and security forces heads.
 
The Special Task Force will be deployed in the area and roadblocks will also be established in the roads leading to Muthurajawela to curtain the environmental destruction.
 
The President also directed the authorities to suspend the permits issued to places that provide gravel to fill lands in this area.
