The Supreme Court ordered the Attorney General to go through the alleged statements made by Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake defaming the Judiciary and inform his viewpoint to the Supreme Court.
This order was issued when a 3-member bench took up a petition today (Mar. 23) which was moved by a group including Ven. Magalkande Sudaththa Thera against Ranjan Ramanayake accusing him of making statements defaming the judiciary.
The Supreme Court judges Prasanna Jayawardene, Sisira de Abrew and Priyantha Jayawardene ordered the case to be postponed until 4th of June.
Two petitions were filed against the Deputy Minister accusing him of making a statement which is defamatory to the judiciary.
