Fmr.+female+principal+jailed+for+5+years

The former female principal of Aluvihara Vidyalaya, Matale was sentenced to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment after she was found guilty of accepting a bribe to admit a child to the school.

It was revealed that she had demanded a bribe of Rs. 200,000 from the parents and then she had accepted Rs. 150,000 from them.
 
The incident had occurred on 8th of February 2014.
 
She was found guilty of four charges by the Colombo High Court.
 
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested the principal and then filed the case against her.
 
She was ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 60,000 and the High Court Judge, Gihan Kulatunga also ordered her to pay Rs. 150,000 to the parents of the child.
