The President’s Media Division says that the information circulating regarding the size of the delegation that participated at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London is false.

The delegation that joined the President comprised only of the first lady, the official doctor, Minister Thilak Marapana and his wife, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, a translator and two officials from the Foreign Ministry.

It further stated that no other individual attended CHOGM or any parallel sessions at the expense of the president’s office.

It was further noted that Minister of Finance, Mangala Samaraweera and Minister of Commerce and Industry, Rishath Bathiudeen attended the Economic Summit.

However their costs were not covered by Sri Lanka, the PMD report said.

The President’s Media Divisions also rejected reports that stated that the Sri Lankan delegation to the CHOGM had over 100 delegates.
