Public urged to be careful when buying gold items

The National Gem and Jewellery Authority advises the public to exercise caution when purchasing gold items.

They urged the public to check the certificate issued by the authority before purchasing any item from traders.

The Director-General of the authority, Mahesh Gammanpila said that due to the surge in prices of gold, there is a possibility of low-quality gold jewellery being issued to the market.
