Journalist Mahesh Nissanka sends to remand custody

Journalist Mahesh Nissanka and his eldest son, who are accused of assaulting another individual have been remanded until 18th of this month.
 
They were produced before Mahara Magistrate today (Jun 13).
 
The alleged assault had taken place on Saturday night in front of a supermarket in Enderamulla, Wattala.
 
A fitness center owner, named Wasantha Liyanage was assaulted by Nissanka and his 2 sons following a verbal exchange.
 
Wasantha was later admitted to National Hospital, Colombo with cut injuries.
 
Meanwhile, Nissanka and his 2 sons surrendered to police through a lawyer yesterday (Jun 12).
 
Later, the younger son was released on a cash surety of Rs. 10,000 and a personal surety of Rs. 100,000.
 
However, Nissanka has also made a complaint to police against the injured person and Kadawatha Police said it will also be probed.
