An Australian mother and her daughter have died following a motor accident near 65th-kilometre post along the Southern Expressway.

The accident had occurred at around 5 am.
 
A van which was heading towards Galle had collided with a container which was parked on the roadside due to a mechanical issue.
 
Four Australian nationals travelling by the van and the lorry driver were injured in the accident.
 
They were admitted to Nagoda Hospital, Kalutara and Elpitiya Hospital.
 
Later, Colin Lewis Monica, aged 37 and Colin Poppy Gabriel, aged 4 years and 5 months had succumbed to their injuries.
