A 70-year-old person and another 34-year-old person have died after falling into a cesspit in Arama Heenna at Aranayake.
 
The incident had occurred at around 9.30 am today (Jun 21).
 
According to police, the elderly person had fallen into a cesspit nearby his house and then a neighbour had attempted to rescue him.
 
In the process, he too had fallen into the pit and died.
 
Bodies are kept at Aranayake Hospital.
