The Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, Ivan Dissanayake says that the annual revenue collected by the Inland Revenue Department is inadequate to settle this year's interest payments for large-scale loans obtained in the past.

He said this joining a public seminar on taxes held in Galle yesterday (Jul 05).

Dissanayake said, as a result, the Department is forced to minimize tax concessions and fully enforce the new Inland Revenue Act.

Following the event, responding to questions raised by the journalists, the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue said it is a must that those who maintain vehicles and constantly travel abroad should have a tax file.
